Galariland is a vast kingdom divided into four regions: wintry Urbain in the northwest, summery Zuzul in the northeast, autumnal Cordan in the southwest, and vernal Galaris in the southeast. Each region has its own unique feel, its own unique exports and its own unique way of life. Prince Pietro's journey will ultimately take him across this whole country, but we wouldn't dare spoil everything that awaits him on his journey, so let's just take a look at the Urbain and Zuzul regions.
Mouse over a location to learn more about it:
Straddling the border between Urbain and Cordan, this tower serves as the stronghold for all the dark forces plaguing Galariland, and is the epicenter of an ever-expanding radius of rot and corruption that seems to have hit these two regions hardest of all.
A thick, dark woodland that covers most of the lower parts of the Urbain region. Especially creepy at night, but it's not all bad: the forest canopy conceals some of the best natural resources in the entire kingdom, just waiting for the right quarryer to come along and harvest them!
A humble settlement at the back end of Urbain Forest, bordering the northern sea. Most renowned for its rugged architecture, its local cuisine and its quarrying culture, with much of its economy bolstered through ore trade and farm services.
A massive peak that occupies much of the land area of Urbain. Although its base is forested like most of the rest of the region, the snow and the cold quickly set in as you climb higher and higher, and the indigenous monsters become more and more aggressive. Definitely not a friendly place.
A settlement near the peak of Mt. Urbain. Freezing cold and constantly beaten by the elements, its residents nonetheless feel more at home here than anywhere else. Sadly, the village's size has decreased significantly over the years, with numerous houses both along the route up the mountain and at the peak condemned due to irreparable blizzard damage or proximity to dangerous wildlife.
The few parts of the region not covered in trees or dominated by Mt. Urbain house a lone farm and a small tent settlement, but little else. This is the crossroads, however, that connects Urbain with its neighboring regions of Zuzul in the east and Cordan in the south.
The sprawling marshlands of Galariland's northeast are home to a number of bizarre species, as well as countless buried treasures and long-forgotten mysteries. An ornate stone road through the moors was once conceived and even begun in the western portion of the region, but quickly abandoned as the elements proved a bit too much to contend with.
A small but welcoming seaside resort village with sun and relaxation as its chief exports. The entire village is built along the banks of the Galari Sea, with the kingdom's capital looming in the distance across the way – though the choppy waters make it inadvisable to attempt a crossing.
A thriving farm along the north side of the Moors of Zuzul, renowned throughout Galariland for its high-quality "sumoo" (cow) milk. Largely responsible for feeding and funding the whole region, to such an extent that its owner, Mauricio, is arguably the most influential man in the whole Zuzul region.
A thriving village built inside a cave at roughly the northeastern-most point in Galariland. Despite its "underground" appearance, gaps in the cave roof let in plenty of sunlight and geothermal energy heats the ground, allowing for a variety of healthy crops to grow within the village borders. The naturally isolated nature of the location, too, keeps it relatively safe from attack.
